Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.) is blaming Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Barbra Streisand as a part of the explanation why she determined to modify districts.

Boebert accused Hollywood stars of “making an attempt to purchase” her present congressional district by donating to her Democrat opponent, Adam Frisch, in an interview on Steve Bannon’s “Conflict Room” podcast Saturday. She stated the explanation for switching from the state’s third Congressional District to the 4th Congressional District was about “how we will finest defend and advance conservative ideas.”

“However we want a powerful voice there and now we have to close down the Hollywood elites who’re making an attempt to purchase my present district,” she stated. “There was near $10 million poured into this district to purchase the seat, and Colorado third District will not be on the market.”

Boebert announced her district switch final week, that means she can be avoiding a rematch with Frisch. She narrowly defeated Frisch within the 2022 midterms by about 546 votes. Since then, Frisch has outraised Boebert, with $7.7 million for his marketing campaign in contrast together with her $2.2 million.

Boebert has repeatedly stated she “is not going to enable darkish cash” to “steal this seat.” She echoed that sentiment within the latest interview, once more reiterating that her opponents are being funded by Hollywood.

“It’s coming from Hollywood when you may have Barbra Streisand coming in and donating to the Democrat, when you may have Ryan Reynolds coming in and donating to the Democrat,” she stated. “It exhibits you that Hollywood is making an attempt to purchase their manner into Congress.”

In accordance with Federal Election Commission filings, Streisand donated $1,000 to Frisch’s marketing campaign in April, whereas Reynolds donated $500 in March.

Boebert will now be operating for Rep. Ken Buck’s (R-Colo.) seat, which comes after he introduced his plans to not search reelection final 12 months. The swap opens up the GOP nomination for the state’s third Congressional District, giving the Republican candidate a stronger probability of defeating Frisch as Boebert has been riddled by controversies during her tenure.
