FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va.A Texas instructor was arrested in Fairfax County final week after police say he drove over 1,500 miles believing that he was going to have intercourse with a teenage woman.

Police say David Ortiz, 32, was arrested on Friday, Jan. 12 after arriving in Fairfax County the place he anticipated to satisfy the juvenile for illicit exercise.

In December 2023, Ortiz started having sexual conversations with a person he believed to be a juvenile, who was really a Youngster Exploitation Unit detective with the Fairfax County Police Division.

“He thought he was speaking to a 14-year-old woman,” stated Second Lieutenant Chris Arenas with the Youngster Exploitation Unit.

The unit started conducting an operation to crack down on baby predators.

Police say Ortiz indicated that he was going to make the journey to Virginia on Jan. 10. When he arrived two days later, detectives have been ready to take him into custody.

An investigation revealed that Ortiz is a highschool band instructor at United Impartial Faculty District. Detectives are in communication with Texas authorities.

Ortiz has been charged with manufacturing of kid sexual abuse materials, use of communication gadget to solicit a minor, tried indecent liberties with a minor, and eight counts of use of communication gadget to solicit a minor (second or subsequent offense).

He’s presently being held on the Fairfax County Grownup Detention Heart on no bond.
