CNN senior authorized analyst Elie Honig on Sunday dismissed Donald Trump lawyer Alina Habba’s suggestion the previous president isn’t testifying again in his civil fraud trial as a result of he’s underneath a gag order within the case that prohibits him from verbally attacking the choose and courthouse workers.

“I’m mystified,” Honig, a former assistant U.S. lawyer, informed CNN’s Jim Acosta.

He known as it “nonsensical” as a result of the order applies to something Trump would possibly say in anywhere and is so slim that it “doesn’t matter whether or not he’s on the stand or not.”

“So to me, that may be a bogus excuse that I’m not shopping for in any respect,” he added.

Honing stated Trump’s determination to not testify once more was a “good” or the “least damaging transfer” and was legally “the least harmful factor” for him to do within the case.
